Fundraiser done by the artists- tour groups

I share your concerns about funding- I think it's great if the artists help plan an event- one has been proposed by Jennifer Russo- a "Pay the Rent" based on the old rave concept-except no drugs. This very popular in London and New York right now - the New York Times just did an article on this- it also brings the thirty something people to the studio. We could possibly raise $10,000 by charging 10-to 15 dollars to get in and selling say 750 tickets and $5,000 by doing the raffle tickets. Jennifer Russo has said she would be point person- but I believe that she would need some help from the Board and staff. The Galleries are down for April so we could do it the middle of April.

It is my personal goal and priority to close out all arrears to the Tri-Main Center by the end of April. I spoke with Elgin and Matt regarding this type of time frame. They were both ok with that.

Perhaps interested parties could meet before the next Board meeting for a brief meeting to flush out concepts for a fundraiser - say next Saturday February 17 at 9 am till 10 for coffee-donuts in the community space. I have classes coming in starting at 10:30 so I will be busy by 10:15. I do believe staff should be a part of this as we will need to help a little so as not double up on asks. Lauren is away on vacation February 14- 23 so I will be filling her spot at this meeting.

-additional note on tours

Tour groups planned -I need artists to talk to high school and college art students-

February 21 at 1:30 in the afternoon- ECC art appreciation course

March 15th at 9:30 am Cleveland High School art students
As agreed students will spend about 90 minutes touring artists studios and the galleries. Joanna Angie, Director will give the tour of the artist studios. Brooke Fitzpatrick, Curator will give the tour of the galleries. Artists in the two front galleries are Marni Schindelman and Krista Birnbaum. See attached resumes.

At least six of the following artists in residence will be present Joanna Angie, William Y. Cooper, Kara Daving, Catherine Shuman Miller, Bryan Hopkins, Roberto Pacheco, Kathleen Sherin, Nancy Smith, Rosemarie Sroka. Additional artists in the building have agreed to give a brief talk are Todd Treat- photographer and David Derner large bronze sculptor.
